2020 was a year full of challenges and uncertainties. The pandemic had a big impact on all of us and ConverseArchitects was no exception. We quickly adapted to the new reality where working from home became the standard. Far from ideal, but definitely possible.

Fortunately, there were still many positives in 2020. Multiple Converse-projects, from residential houses to offices and industrial buildings, started with the construction phase. We are happy to provide you with the overview below to give you an impression on what we have been working on this year. Are you curious what we can do for you? Let’s come together in 2021!

Lely Campus Phase 2

The second phase of the Lely Campus is one of our latest projects. It houses both Lely’s head office and production facility. Due to the continued growth of the business activities, the space of the current facility is now being doubled. With three wings of office space with a total area of 8,159 m2 and a production hall of a total of 21,009 m2. Back in 2013 the current building, also designed by Converse, was the first to receive the BREEAM Outstanding certification on the mainland of Europe. For the new wings our focus evidently stays on sustainability and smart design to maintain this high standard for the whole of the building. The new facility is expected to be completed in the first quarter of 2022.

DHG Eekhoutstraat

DHG invests and develops high-quality real estate projects in logistics, real estate and port locations. On behalf of DHG, ConverseArchitects designed a plan for an renovation and sustainable upgrade of the office building on the Eekhoutstraat in Rotterdam.

This uniquely located office is one of the best visible sites of the industrial estate ‘Waalhaven Noordzijde’ and particularly interesting for us, since it is right across from our own office at the river Maas. Next year tenant Radio Holland will move back to their 3,442 m² new office space, divided over 2 buildings. We are looking forward to enjoying the new view!

KLM 001

KLM-001 is a private residence, situated in the green environment of Wilgenrijk. A prestigious development in Maassluis where ConverseArchitects realised many projects in the past five years. Wilgenrijk has a well-thought-out design philosophy called ‘the Maassluise School’. It provides design principles and inspiration, preserving and integrating characteristic architecture and landscaping. A harmonious unity with a clear Dutch signature.

KLM 001 was designed to be a combination of a country house and a traditional Dutch farmhouse. ConverseArchitects captured this rural and urban living in one design. At this moment KLM 001 is being realised in association with Simone van Es Interiors and PAD Landscape and will be completed in January 2021.

MGM 002

MGM 002 is a private residence, situated in the Buitengoed district of Wilgenrijk. This modern residence uses traditional building materials like brick, wood and reed that fit the overall style of the “Maassluise School”. But also has a modern, robust steel construction with impressive glass masses throughout. The worlds of ‘old’ and ‘new’ together deliver interesting synergies that have resulted in an overall amazing and unique design.

MGM 002 is currently in the development phase.

Food Center Amsterdam

The Food Center Amsterdam (FCA) has the largest and most diverse assortment of fresh produce in the Netherlands. It is the wholesale market in food in- and for the region Amsterdam. FCA provides for the needs of the retail, restaurants, hotels and supply to care institutions and supermarkets. Meat, poultry and game, fish, potatoes, vegetables and fruit and general food from home and abroad.

FCA is currently in the development phase.

Equestrum

Equestrum is the future of the equestrian sport in Zuid-Holland. The new location Ommerdijker-Hoeve in Den Hoorn is a farmyard with three listed Dutch buildings. ConverseArchitects designed a new Campus facility where business, education, research and health & care are combined.

The Equestrum campus is in the concept phase.

Apartments Maassluis

ConverseArchitects converts the old historic buildings on Noordvliet in Maassluis into 10 apartments. With the restoration of the original details in the facades, the houses return to their former glory.

The apartments in Maassluis are currently in the construction phase.

Intellian

Intellian’s new Head Office is being built at Business Park Zestienhoven. A logical choice for the listed Korean market leader in Satellite Communication Systems, because of the favourable location next to Rotterdam-The Hague airport and several important roads and cities within a short travel distance. ConverseArchitects was responsible for the design and therefore also managed to give the building a very high GPR building score. This commonly used Dutch sustainability methodology provides more insight than just the energy performance of a real estate object.

The new Head Office and warehouse is expected to be completed in June 2021.
